Wood was born in Sydney on the 18th of October in 1920.
He enlisted in RAAF Aircrew on 28 Feb 1942 and was posted to No 2OTU Mildura.
He was flying Kittyhawk A29-85 on the 8th of February 1945 when it crashed near the Red Cliffs – Morkalla road, while engaged in aerobatic exercises.
